Susan has demonstrated her ability and effectiveness in numerous career achievements. She launched a specialty crop ag business—Deer Creek Herbs and Teas–with her husband Mark Sanderson in 2013. Prior to that, Susan led South Dakota Voices for Children as executive director for 13 years, growing it from a one-person operation to a staff of eight. Under Susan’s tenure, Voices made significant strides in juvenile justice reform, advancements in early childhood education, expanded afterschool services, and gains in childhood mental health.
Susan wants to serve District 12, her home for the past 28 years, as its representative in the statehouse. She and her husband Mark raised their two children in District 12 and have put down roots here.
Susan’s knowledge, commitment to the people of District 12, and wide-ranging experience make her ready to be an effective voice for District 12 in the House of Representatives.
